Bands Bypass Radio, CDs to create virtual
buzz
"The old model for a band," says Eric Berk, bassist of the
Hoboken, N.J.-based rock group Full Out Freak, "was to put
your music together, then play shows and pray that a
record company finds you. The only way you were ever going
to make it out there was to capture the ear of somebody at
a record company, who would then put you on a bus, send
you on tour and help you survive.
"We discovered something called MySpace, and we thought it
was the way of the future. You make your music, you put it
up on a Web site, you let people discover it and then
they'll go on to tell others," Berk says. "The new model
is where you go directly to the end listener and bypass
the ears of the record company — and the record company
now finds out about you from the fans who flock your way."

"Build a Page on MySpace and it's Accessible
by Millions and Millions of People!"
"Bands used to have to work hard to promote their own
stuff," said Riley Hoffpauir, co-owner of Penehoff
Promotions, a Tyler-based business that uses MySpace to
promote artists.
"Now all they have to do is build a page on MySpace and
it's accessible by millions and millions of people."

"Bands
are Going to MySpace Because it’s Free"
Bands are going to MySpace because it’s
free and they don’t have to know how to do a Web site,”
said Tom Anderson, the site’s 29-year-old co-founder and
president. “But the biggest reason is because there are 43
million (Now over 100 Million! and Growing!) people
on MySpace.”

And with the release of MySpace’s digital
music sales function, this statement from the August 21st
edition of the Seattle Times, couldn’t be any more
truthful:
"Some Fundamental Things Have
Changed
Recently In the Music Business."
Two years ago, when a label released an album, it often
followed a "traditional" marketing strategy: sending CDs
to radio stations, buying advertising in newspapers and
magazines. Now labels focus instead on bloggers,
podcasters and online buyers.
More and more sales are digital, meaning fans pay to
download the album directly to their computer, from which
they can play the purchased tracks, burn them to CDs and
copy them to personal MP3 players. It marks a fundamental
shift in the way bands think about reaching their fans,
and vice versa.

So...
My question
to you is,
are you trying to make it in the music industry, but
feel totally lost? DO you feel as if you’ve tried just about
everything and nothing works? Are you convinced that there has
to be a better, easier way to make it in the music industry,
make more money then you are making now and get the
world-wide, international recognition that you want, need and
deserve?
Well, my name is Ty Cohen and I’m here to tell you that there
is an easier way, a way that is much
quicker, satisfying an rewarding then almost anything else you
may have tried to get that “push” that you may need to get a
running start in the music industry.
What is it? Well it’s called MySpace, and it is one of the
largest, fastest growing online, social networking communities
ever created for the music industry and people like
You.
MySpace has brought a new music
phenomenon to the comfort of our own homes. Never have so many
musicians become so popular, so quickly, and it’s happening to
more and more musicians everyday. The convenience of MySpace
has given artists a new way to release their music to the
world. Now artists don’t have to wait around and hope they can
get their break. It only takes minutes to create a MySpace
Music profile, and even less time for people worldwide to
start to hear your music and learn about you as an artist.
In fact lots of artist, musicians, song writers, label owners,
managers and others are using MySpace to sell more of their
music, make more money, get more fans and more hook ups in the
music industry then they could have ever gotten using any
other means, but…
…The Question Is…
1- Are
You Using MySpace to Sell More of Your Music, Make More Money,
Build a Die Hard, Loyal Fan Base and More Importantly, Are You
Using MySpace to Make to Contacts that You Need to Succeed in
the Music Industry?
And
2-
If
You Are…
...Are you Using it The
Correct Way and Taking Advantage of The Wildly
Popular Success of MySpace and It’s Over 100 Million Music
Loving Members?
Chances are you may not be
using MySpace to market, promote and sell your music and
if you are, there is an even greater chance that you
are NOT using it to it’s full potential and may even be using
it in ways that can harm your chances of
success.
"But I Already Have a MySpace
Page". I hate to sound
mean, but simply having a
page up on MySpace means nothing unless, you are doing it the
right way, and I’ve found that over 99.9% of the people
in the music industry who have MySpace pages have them set up
all wrong, which is simply why they are not seeing the results
and amount of success that they should be seeing, in fact most
people are not seeing any success, other then
getting a couple of hundred plays of their songs every week or
so.
Ask Yourself… Can you afford to
miss out on one of the most popular and beneficial ways for
you to get the exposure you want, simply because you failed to
put a MySpace page up the correct way and make use of the huge
assortment of ways that you can make money from it?
The answer is NO!
The Next Question You
Should be Asking Yourself is…
”Do I desperately need the information contained in the
MySpace Magic Manuscript in order to see more of a profit
with my music, make more sales of my music, get the industry
contacts and recognition that I need to succeed and get my
talent out to the entertainment world?” The answer to this
question should be a 100% positive YES!!!
Now, I’m not going to make this some long, drawn out sales
letter, the point is either you get it or you don’t. Either
you understand how important it is to correctly use the power
of MySpace to accomplish what it is that you are after in the
music industry or you don’t. 99.9% of the people who will see
this page will instantly recognize that they need the material
that I’ve put together and will make a swift move to get it if
it is still available. (I say if because just as with my last
product release
Easy Impact Audio I will #1 raise the price on this
product shortly just to keep it from getting into everyone’s
hands and #2 I will discontinue selling it as it is once we
receive 100 orders for it)
For
the past few months I have been researching MySpace, quietly
taking notes on how the most successful acts use it to reach
thousands of fans, sell incredible amounts of their music, and
shoot their music careers beyond their expectations.
What Is It?
The result of my findings lead to me creating the MySpace
Magic Manuscript! The MySpace Magic
Manuscript is a secret project that I have quietly worked on
and put together for some of my highest paying clients over
the last couple of weeks and months and originally decided to
only share it with a select few, but because I’m feeling
extremely generous, I have decided to make it available for a
short time, to a limited number of people before I take it
back off the market.
Here’s What You’ll Learn...
( but you have to
promise, that you won’t share it with anyone)
Use Ty Cohen's
New MySpace Magic Manuscript to Discover...
How successfully build a huge fan / friend list in less
time.
How to find top music industry contacts in no time.
How to correctly use MySpace to promote
yourself, artist or company to it’s over 100 Million Users
(do this wrong and you will screw up big time!)
How to make everyone who comes in contact with your
MySpace page aware of your concerts, new music and
anything else you want them to be aware of!
How to create your own MySpace group to attract fans like
magnets and have every single one of them loving your
music and dying to purchase anything that you have for
sell.
How to easily upload videos, your music, place links to
your website, CDBaby Page and more!
How to create a killer profile that will draw music fans,
paying customers and industry big wigs to your page like
bees to honey.

spread your music around the Internet like wildfire, while
you profit all the way to the bank.
How to find and reach your target market, even if you now
nothing about either.
And so much more, that I can’t even list it here for fear
that to many people will catch onto the methods that can
be used to effectively make an online killing using
myspace !(remember,
I don’t want to many people getting their hands on this
information, which is why I’ll be increasing the price
soon and then totally discontinuing this manuscript all
together, completely making it unavailable for purchase)

The Ultimate Do It
Yourself Promotional Tool!
Jonathan Buck, guitarist and lead singer for the Brooklyn
indie rock group Coppermine, says his band’s profile on
MySpace has drawn nearly 300,000 visitors. The band can
instantly distribute messages and news to more than
115,000 MySpace users who have added Coppermine as a
“friend” on their profile. Thanks to the broad reach of
MySpace, Coppermine no longer has to flood radio stations
with CDs or plaster concert posters around town.
“A MySpace profile is so efficient and so effective that
it supplants a lot of that other stuff,” Buck said.
Likening
MySpace to a big music festival, Buck says the site allows
small bands to make a name for themselves without spending
time and money on the menial tasks usually associated with
band development.
“You go to a big rock show where a big band is headlining
— say, Audioslave — and you’re there with CDs and posters,
waiting in the rain to hand this stuff out to the crowd
after the show. MySpace allows you to do that everyday,
without spending any money,” he said.
Coppermine’s
fans aren’t the only ones following the band online. Buck
said the band has been contacted by managers, promoters,
music labels, Webzines, DJs and others “who definitely
wouldn’t have heard us if not for MySpace.”
The site’s been a boon to music fans, as well.
“I mainly use the music section in MySpace to look for
up-and-coming bands,” said Nate Yeakel, or “MastaNate,” as
the 31-year-old Southern Californian punk fan is know to
his friends on MySpace. “I’ve seen links to even the
smallest of bands’ MySpace pages. When there, you can
usually find a link to either their merchandise or their
label support, which can also turn you onto more bands.
“I guess the best way to describe MySpace is that it
proves the ‘Six Degrees of Separation’ theory.”

"A band in Iowa can now reach out to fans in Los Angeles,"
DeWolfe said. "Now they have a great way to reach out to 6
million fans. Now they can actually sell their music on
MySpace in an area where their fans congregate in a very
contextual manner."
The new Snocap-powered feature will enable bands to outfit
their MySpace site with an interface through which
computer users may browse the bands' songs and buy them in
the copy-protection free MP3 format, MySpace said.
The bands will be able to set the price for each track,
with MySpace and Snocap taking a cut of the sale. And
their fans or friends on MySpace will also be able to
place the online music storefront on their pages,
potentially widening exposure for the bands.
"The distribution fee is small, it's evolving and we're
continuing to structure it as we go," said Rusty Rueff,
Snocap's chief executive. "What we're trying to do right
now is keep the costs as low as we can."
There have been bands that have gotten onto MySpace that
are not signed to any labels and have created quite a
buzz," Leigh said. "This is the next logical step, to
start selling."
A handful of bands have been testing the MySpace online
music feature for several weeks.
One is The Format, an indie rock band from Phoenix, Ariz.,
that boasts more than 99,000 "friends" on their MySpace
page.
Terry McBride, chief executive of Canadian label Nettwerk
Records, which manages the band and handles their
marketing and promotion, said having fans help sell the
band's music is the wave of the future.
"We have a strong belief the next major retailer in music
is the consumer themselves," McBride said. "This is a step
in the right direction."

At the same time, record labels that
have relied on traditional promotion schemes — radio play,
street teams and magazine write-ups — are also wading into
new Web waters.
“Labels understand people are spending more time
online than on other mediums. Radio is more constrained.
MTV is down to about 10 videos a day,” said MySpace CEO
Chris DeWolfe. “MySpace has become the place for awareness
of new music and exclusive content. We can point music out
ahead of its official release in a very organic way.”
DeWolfe maintains that even more rewarding than major acts
finding success on MySpace, is that the site is removing
some of the traditional barriers that have confronted
up-and-coming artists.
“Big labels in the past were the gatekeepers that would
allow a band to make a living or not, but labels are
signing fewer bands,” he said. “Along with new production
tools, MySpace allows a band to reach 43 million people.
It allows a band to make a living and to fill up shows.”
“It’s
absolutely a great tool,” Buck said. “Any kind of band out
there that is trying to get something done is using
MySpace.”
